We are all aware of the tragedy of Africa: its history of poverty, war and natural disasters. It disturbs us to see that in a world of increasing material affluence, this one continent remains in constant crisis.
Food aid, debt relief, and grand development plans seem to achieve almost nothing in a region of increasing political, social and economic complexity and instability.
The Mission of the CharChar Trust is to help end this legacy of poverty, not by telling Africa how to meet the challenges many of us can hardly grasp, but by helping Africans to find their own solutions and determine their own futures by providing them with the materials they need to read and write, communicate, teach and learn through English or their own local languages.
