JUNE 2019

We are half way through term three already! Our volunteer teachers arrived back to school after the holidays and the general election, bringing with them plenty of new ideas for games and activities. I have seen children and teachers playing “Phada” which I think you would call “hopscotch”. Learners are enjoying hoping from one square to another to make their first CVC words (Consonant-Vowel-Consonant like /t/ /i/ /n/). It’s great to see children having fun and learning at the same time.

In my position as Operations and Communications Coordinator, the most enjoyable part of my job is going out to the rural areas and seeing active teaching and learning in the schools we support. As we progress through the term we will strive to ensure that the literacy support teachers are satisfied and motivated with our support at whatever time and whatever the circumstances.
